Peter Roux
Principal Consultant
Peter is a farmer with an MBA and seasoned consultant with over 25 years of experience across Africa specializing in mining closure planning, ESG compliance, and sustainable land restoration. He is the founder of The Biochar Company, where he leads the design of advanced pyrolysis kilns and biochar production systems.
Feasibility Study Expertise:
● Led technical, financial, and ESG feasibility assessments across Southern, East, and West Africa.
● Conducted ESG due diligence aligned with Equator Principles and IFC standards.
● Compiled detailed closure plans and costing for mines in Namibia, Botswana, Sierra Leone, and Burundi.
● Integrated carbon credit models into feasibility assessments.
Biochar & Kiln Design Experience:
● Designed mobile and semi-mobile pyrolysis kilns for invasive biomass.
● Developed biochar inoculants for soil and water remediation.
● Implemented large-scale facilities including:
○ 30t/day biochar-based organic fertilizer plant.
○ Anaerobic bacteria–inoculated biochar study for soil remediation.
○ 1 ML/day sulphate-reducing water treatment plant using biochar.
● Founded Aqua Char Technologies for water treatment using biochar.
Mark Rosslee
Principal Consultant
Mark is a seasoned financial executive with extensive experience in the mining industry, particularly in gold, diamonds, PGMs, coal, copper, and dimension stone. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Wits University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Mark has further enhanced his expertise with a Certificate in Mining Taxation, a Graduate Diploma in Mining Engineering, and an Executive Management Development program. With a career spanning over three decades, Mark has held senior positions including CFO, CEO, and Director roles in various mining companies listed on the JSE, AIM, and TSX.
Mark’s key strengths include:
● Financial leadership in complex, international mining environments.
● Expertise in mergers, acquisitions, and capital funding (equity and debt).
● Strong background in corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
